How we got here... About twenty years ago I wrote All Change! The project leader's secret handbook to share with the project community the research I'd done at Ashridge which explained how almost all project failure followed the same patterns. Five years ago my friend and Client Simon Cooper of JPMorgan approached me and challenged me to think about how he could ensure that every project his team run was perfect. Three years ago the Association for Project Management were kind enough to invite me do a keynote speech at their annual Conference where I shared the early thoughts and results of what was then called Eliminating Surprises from Projects (ESP) Two years ago the Association for Project Management showed boldness of vision and audacity as Mike Nichols announced that they would adopt the banner of "A world where every project succeeds." This year we are using Conference: ZERO to launch and energise a movement of common language and themes as we work together to unearth, learn and share how to create, in our world of turbulence, ambiguity and change the confidence to deliver with our level of worry at ZERO |
